5 Magical Things to Do on a Rainy Day at Walt Disney World

Even the most magical place on earth gets a little rain sometimes, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! If you’re wondering what to do when it rains at Walt Disney World, there are still plenty of ways to make your day unforgettable. From cosy resort activities and exploring Disney Springs to splashing through the parks with shorter queues, here are five magical rainy day ideas to make the most of your Disney trip. No sunshine required! ☔💫
1. Stay at Your Resort and Embrace the Magic

If you’re staying at a Disney resort, a rainy day can actually turn into a lovely surprise. The Cast Members often put on fun indoor activities! From trivia and arts & crafts to games and movie screenings. Sometimes, you might even spot a surprise visit from a Disney character in the lobby (nothing like meeting Goofy randomly!).
Each resort has its own little quirks, so take the chance to explore. Grab a snack from the food court, wander the gift shop, or just relax in those cosy themed spaces you might normally rush past.
2. Spend the Day at Disney Springs

Disney Springs is perfect for a rainy day adventure. Most of the walkways are covered or have awnings, and there are so many places to explore indoors — shops, restaurants, and even a cinema if you fancy catching a film!
Browse World of Disney (it’s basically heaven for Disney fans), grab a massive cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse, or take a seat at one of the incredible restaurants for a long, leisurely lunch while you wait for the rain to pass.
3. Have a Cosy Disney Day in Your Room

Sometimes, a rainy day is the perfect excuse to slow down. Disney trips are go go go, so it’s totally okay to take a little pause. Snuggle up in bed, stick on a Disney film, and order your favourite food from Uber Eats.
Whether you’re watching Tangled for the 100th time or finally catching up on a new release, it’s a lovely way to recharge before heading back into the magic tomorrow.
4. Go Resort Hopping!

If you’re feeling a bit restless, why not grab your poncho and explore other Disney resorts? You can hop on the monorail and visit the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary, all without getting too wet.
Each one has beautiful theming, amazing restaurants, and hidden details that are worth seeing. Plus, it’s a great way to get some inspiration for your next stay!
5. Get Out and Enjoy the Parks Anyway!

If the rain isn’t too heavy, grab that trusty poncho and head out. This is when the real magic happens. Crowds thin out, queue times drop, and you’ll see the parks in a whole new light (literally! The reflections on Main Street are gorgeous!).
Most attractions stay open unless there’s lightning nearby, so you can ride your favourites with barely any wait. It’s honestly one of my favourite times to be in the parks.
Don’t Let the Rain Spoil the Magic
Whether you’re relaxing in your resort, splashing through puddles in Magic Kingdom, or hiding out in World of Disney, a rainy day at Walt Disney World can still be filled with magic. Sometimes, it’s those unexpected moments that make the best memories. 💜
