Disney are trying to find new ways every day to make our experience more and more confusing. And virtual queues definitely tick this box! But do not fear – I am here to teach you how to snag those important boarding groups, so you can enjoy some of the best rides at Walt Disney World.

What is a Virtual Queue?

Let’s start with the basics. A virtual queue is a something available through the My Disney Experience app that allows guests to save a spot in line at the newest rides in Walt Disney World. If you’re able to secure a spot in the virtual queue, you will be assigned a boarding group number, and then you’ll use that to enter the line when it’s your time to ride.

What You Need For The Virtual Queue

Here’s everything you need to access the virtual queue through the My Disney Experience App:

1. An account on the My Disney Experience app
2. For the 7am opening, A Park Pass reservation (They will only be needed until 6th January 2024) For the 1PM opening, guests are required to be INSIDE the park for their virtual queue.
3. Have the My Disney Experience app installed on your phone and updated to the latest version.
4. Valid tickets to get in the parks
5. Have the accounts of any family and friends connected to your account. This is very important if you want to ride with them.

Okay, got all of that? It’s time to book!

Step 1: Set an alarm for 6:55am. You’re going to want to be up, awake and on the app nice and early.

Step 2: Confirm your party. This will be everyone you’ll want to ride with. If they’re not on your party, they’ll have to get their own boarding pass.

Step 3: Press ‘Join Virtual Queue’ at 6:59am and start pressing ‘refresh’ uncontrollably until 7am. There is 100% probably a more dignified way to do this, but we’ve always gotten a boarding pass this way.

Step 4: You’ve done it! The app will notify you immediately if you have successfully booked a space in the Virtual Queue with an assigned Boarding Group Number.

Step 5: Go and ride! The app with give you a push notification when it’s your time to ride, so make sure you’ve got your phone on loud!
